Define SAP ASE Table Physical Storage Properties

Use the SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) Table Editor to specify properties for a table in a physical model.

To define SAP ASE table physical properties

  1. Click Tables on the Model menu.

    The SAP ASE Table Editor opens.

  2. Select the table in the Navigation Grid that you want to define.

    Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create a new table. Use the Enter filter text box to filter a very large list of tables to quickly locate the one that you want to define.

  3. Click the General tab and work with the following options:
    Sybase Segment

    Lets you select a segment in which to store the table that contains the selected index. Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the Sybase Segment drop-down to add a new segment or click the Sybase Segment Editor Button button to open the SAP ASE Segment Editor to work with an existing segment.

    LOCKTABLE

    Specifies how to lock the table to restrict access in a multi-user environment, which maintains security and prevents concurrent access problems. Select a value from the drop-down list.

    Sybase Partitions

    Lets you indicate the number of partitions for the table.

    MAXROWS

    Lets you specify a number to limit the maximum number of rows.

    Sybase Expected Row Size

    Lets you indicate the expected row size for the table when the table contains variable length columns.

    Sybase Reserve Page Gap

    Lets you specify the ratio of filled pages to empty pages to leave during extent I/O operations. This applies to both tables and indexes.

    Sybase Identity Gap

    Lets you specify the identity value gap for the table, which overrides the system-defined value.

    Sybase External Path

    Lets you specify the path of the remote table that is accessed through the defined proxy table. Specify the server name, database, user, and table of the remote system.

  4. Click Close.

    The table properties are defined and the SAP ASE Table Editor closes.
