Define the Physical Location of a Teradata File

You can use the Teradata File Editor to define the physical location of a file that is used in a database for Teradata physical models.

To define the physical location of a Teradata file

  1. Click Target-Teradata, Files on the Model menu.

    The Teradata File Editor opens.

  2. Select a file and work with the following options:

    Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create a new file. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a very large list of files to quickly locate the one you want to work with.

    Name

    Specifies the name of the file.

    Teradata Type

    Specifies the type of file. Select from the drop-down list. Valid values are: Include, Library, Object, Source, and Package.

    Residence

    Specifies where the file resides. Select from the drop-down list. Valid values are Client or Server.

    Note: <win> will not support the specification of files on the client for functions, stored procedures, and methods.

    Name On Server

    Specifies the name of the file on the server.

  3. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
  4. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
  5. (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view and edit user notes.
  6. Click Close.

    The Teradata File Editor closes.
