Define a DB2 LUW Database Role

Use the Database Role editor to create a role name that you can use to group one or more privileges and assign to a user or to another role.

Note: This topic applies to DB2 for LUW versions 9.5 and 9.7 only.

To define a DB2 database role

  1. Right-click a Database Role in the Model Explorer and select Properties.

    The DB2 Database Role Editor opens.

  2. Select a database role name and work with the following options:

    Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create a database role. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a large list of names to locate the one you want to work with.

    Name

    Specifies the name of the database role.

    (DB2 LUW only) Audit Policy

    Specifies the Audit Policy to associate with the Database Role.

    Generate

    Generates DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

  3. Click the Roles tab to view the roles that you have created and to specify whether the role has administrative privileges.
  4. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
  5. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
  6. (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view and edit user notes.
  7. Click Close.

    The Database Roles Editor closes.
