Define a DB2 LUW Bufferpool
Use the Bufferpool editor to work with properties for DB2 LUW Bufferpools. Tabs are provided for you to access options for specifying database partition groups and bufferpool partition exceptions.
To define a DB2 LUW bufferpool
- Right-click a Bufferpool in the Model Explorer and select Properties.
The DB2 LUW Bufferpool Editor opens.
- Select a bufferpool and work with the following options:
Note: Click New on the toolbar to create a bufferpool. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a large list of names to locate the one you want to work with.
- Name
-
Specifies the name of the bufferpool.
- Deferrable
-
When selected, indicates that the buffer pool size is changed only when the database is deactivated.
- Generate
-
Generates DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.
- Work with the following fields on the General tab:
- Size
-
Indicates the size of the bufferpool.
- Is Self Tuning
-
When selected, indicates that self-tuning is enabled for the bufferpool.
- Pages In Block
-
Specifies the number of pages in a block.
- Pages in Block Area
-
Specifies the number of pages that should exist in the block-based area.
- Page Size
-
Specifies the size of pages used for the bufferpool.
- Click the Database Partition Groups tab to select a database partition group to add to the list of data partition groups to which the bufferpool is applicable.
- Click the BufferPool Partition Exceptions tab to select a bufferpool partition exception entry to associate with the bufferpool.
- (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
- (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
- (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view and edit user notes.
- Click Close.
The new bufferpool is saved and the DB2 for LUW Bufferpool Editor closes.
