Specify Volumetric Information for an Entity
Use the Volumetrics tab in the Entity Editor to enter and maintain entity-level volumetric information from the logical side of a model. When you specify volumetric information, it is in place when you derive a physical model from the logical model. For logical/physical models, the information is persisted to the Table properties on the physical side.
To specify volumetric information for an entity
- Click Entities on the Model menu.
The Entity Editor opens.
- Click the Volumetrics tab and work with the following options:
- Initial Row Count
Lets you enter an initial number of records for the selected entity.
- Max Rows
Lets you enter the maximum allowable number of records that the entity is designed to hold. You can leave this field empty to achieve open-ended growth. This option is used along with the Grow By option to determine when an entity will reach its designed record limit.
- Grow By Month
Lets you enter the estimated number of records that you expect the entity to grow per month. If you have a maximum record number in the Max Rows field, entity growth stops at that record number.
- Click Close.
Entity volumetrics are defined and the Entity Editor closes.
