Define Teradata Join Indexes

You can use the Teradata Join Index Editor to join multiple tables, replicate all or a vertical sub-set of a single table, or aggregate one or more columns of a single table or the result of a join in a Teradata physical model.

To define Teradata join indexes

  1. Click Join Index on the Model menu.

    The Teradata Join Index Editor opens.

  2. Select a join index and work with the following options:

    Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create a new join index. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a very large list of indexes to quickly locate the one you want to work with.

    Name

    Specifies the name of the join index.

    Database

    Defines the database or user.

    Checksum

    Defines the level of integrity checking for disk I/O. Select from the drop-down list. Valid values are: All, Default, Low, Medium, High, and None.

    Fallback Protection

    Specifies if fallback protection is used for the database. Select from the drop-down.

    Generate

    Generates DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

  3. Work with the other tabs in the editor to access additional design features, for example:
    • Specify the tables and columns to use with the selected join index on the Select tab.
    • Choose from a list of available tables to populate the Select tab, on the From tab.
    • Specify properties for the where clause for a selected join index on the Where tab.
    • View and change a user-defined DDL statement for a selected join index on the User Defined SQL tab.
    • View SQL code for a selected join index on the SQL tab.
    • Associate permissions with the selected join index on the Permission tab.
    • Specify statistics options on the Statistics tab.
  4. (Optional) Click the Style tab to manage themes and display options for the join index.
  5. (Optional) Click the Icon tab and specify the icon style to use for the join index.
  6. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
  7. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
  8. (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view and edit user notes.
  9. Click Close.

    The Teradata Join Index Editor closes.
