Define Teradata Database Roles
You can use the Teradata Database Role editor to create or edit a role that is used for managing user access permissions on database objects in a Teradata physical model.
To define a Teradata database role
- Click Target-Teradata, Database Roles on the Model menu.
The Teradata Database Role Editor opens.
- Select a database role name and work with the following options:
Note: Click New
on the toolbar to create a new database role. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a very large list of roles to quickly locate the one you want to work with.
- Name
Specifies the name of the database role.
- Is External
Specifies whether the role is an internal role or an external role.
- Generate
Generates DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.
You must define multiple roles to associate roles with other roles. After you define multiple roles, you can associate a role name with a role name on the Roles tab.
- Click the Rolestab and select the check box next to the role name. Optionally, select the check box to indicate the With Admin Option.
- (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
- (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
- (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view and edit user notes.
- Click Close.
The Teradata Database Role Editor closes.
