Change the Relationship Type
During modeling activities it may be necessary to change the relationship type for an identifying or non-identifying relationship.
To change the relationship type
- Right-click the relationship in the Model Explorer for which you want to change the relationship type, then click Properties.
The Relationships editor opens.
- Click the General tab.
The General tab opens.
- Change the relationship type using one of the following relationship types and then click OK.
- Identifying
Specifies an Identifying relationship, which is a relationship between two entities in which an instance of a child entity is identified through its association with a parent entity. No nulls are allowed in identifying relationships.
- Non-Identifying
Specifies a Non-Identifying relationship, which is a relationship between two entities in which an instance of the child entity is not identified through its association with a parent entity.
The relationship type is changed.
Note: You cannot change the relationship type for a recursive relationship. It must be non-identifying.
