Define an Informix Table Synonym

Use the Synonym tab in the Informix Table Editor to define a table synonym. See your SQL vendor's documentation for more information about synonym options.

To define an Informix table synonym

  1. Click Tables on the Model menu.

    The Informix Table Editor opens.

  2. Select the table in the Navigation Grid for which you want to define a synonym.

    Note: Use the Enter filter text box to filter a very large list of tables to quickly locate the one that you need.

  3. Click the Synonym tab and work with the following options:

    Note: Click the New New icon in property editors to create a new object button to add a new synonym.

    Name

    Displays the synonym name. You can change the synonym name in this field.

    Public

    Lets you specify whether this is a public synonym. Every user in the database can access a public synonym.

    Database

    Defines the database to which the synonym belongs.

  4. Click Close.

    The table synonym is defined and the Informix Table Editor closes.
