Enter a Data Source Definition

You use the Definition tab in the Data Source Object Editor to enter or edit a definition for a data source. The definition that you enter should help any person who reads the data model to understand where the source data is located and how it is included in the data source.

To enter a data source definition

  1. Click Data Source Editor on the Model menu.

    The Data Source Object Editor opens.

  2. Select the data source object in the grid for which you want to enter a definition.
  3. Navigate to the Definition tab and click Text Editor Icon.

    The Data Source Object Definition screen appears.

  4. Enter the definition and click OK.

    The Data Source Object Definition screen closes.

  5. Click Close.

    The definition is saved and the Data Source Object Editor closes.
